Here's what were busy with in fourth grade today:
Math: We split up in groups and did stations around the room to practice rounding, estimating, and adding and subtracting. One of the stations was using eharcourtschool.com to practice lesson 3.3. Remember to use the online book at home for extra practice.
Word Study: Groups 3 and 4 took their test today while Groups 1 and 2 finished up their contracts. All groups should have their tests with them today. Make sure to take a look!
Reading: We read through part of a non-fiction book about snakes to discuss things that we wonder about snakes. We will be using this book and others to learn how to ask relevant questions when reading. I also spent some time talking more about Reading letters. The kids should have two sheets in their Reading folders. Please do not take these sheets out-they should stay in there as a reference throughout the year. Reading letters should be able to be completed in class. They have one letter due every other week and they know on what day of the week their letter is due.
Writing-We spent Writing taking the Tungsten test today. For those who this is new for, and as a reminder to everyone, grades 2-5 take a Reading and Math test each month. It is not counted as a grade, but is used to see what skills the students are strong on and what skills need to be focused on during the year.
Social Studies-We discussed how to find the latitude and longitude of a place and also went over a study guide for Chapter 1.
Tonight's homework:
Math-WS 3.3-even problems, all of MR
Reading-Tomorrow I will be meeting with Class Clown and How to Steal a Dog.
Word Study-Groups 3 and 4 contract is due on Monday.
Social Studies-Yellow packet due Friday-Chapter 1 test Friday Remember that those in Math Intervention do not participate in Social Studies.
Please let me know if you have any questions and have a great night!
