Happy last day of September! Remember there is no school tomorrow for kids. Teachers have professional development.
Here's what we did today:
Math-We reviewed Chapter 5. Test will be Monday. Any elapsed time questions will be extra credit on the test. Elapsed time on a calendar WILL be on the test.
Word Study-We prepared our words for the sort on Monday.
Reading-Students met in groups of 3 and discussed inferences they could make about a poem of their choice. They did a great job tackling some deep poems!
Writing-We heard from Lauren and Grace H. who shared their wonderful stories with the class! Next week we will begin working on personal narratives.
We also had a reward party for those students who earned it. We watched A Cricket in Times Square and students played games.
Homework:
Math-Study for the Chapter 5 test!
Word Study-I gave back grammar quizes today. I ended up grading it on a curve so there were 11 extra points added to each test. You'll see the final grade circled. I am also offering a make up on Monday. It will be just like the last quiz, but with a different paragraph. I will take the higher grade from either Monday or this past Tuesday.
Reading-READ, READ, READ
***A few parents have requested an assignment in Social Studies to help bring up some grades. I am waiting on copies to come back. It is a test on the Regions of the US and students can complete the test at home, using the book, to earn some extra credit points.
Have a great three day weekend!
