September 20th

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  Here's what we did today:
Math-We learned that equations are just like number sentences!  They have an equal sign and may also have a variable.

Word Study- Groups 1 and 2 did a buddy check to prepare for their test tomorrow while Groups 3 and 4 worked on their contracts.

Reading-We began learning about inferences.  Inferences are statements you can make about text based on information in the text, but which are not stated directly.  We will be working on inferencing for the next few weeks.

Writing-The students paired up and used a checklist to edit their partner's work.  They checked for capitals, punctuation, complete sentences, and spelling.  We will continue with this tomorrow and will begin publishing on Wednesday.

Tonight's Homework:
Math-page 72, #10-24, evens  (This is in the book and online at eharcourtschool.com, username:tfourth, password: pass)

Reading-I will meet with Archer's Quest and Little House tomorrow.  Also, all students need to post on the blog at least once this week about what they are reading.  Parents, feel free to post as well :)

Writing-Remember to write at least 3 entries a week in your Writer's Notebook.  I will be collecting Writer's Notebooks on Friday.

Science-Some students may need to finish a summary from class.

Have a great night!

  1. Hi Mrs.Davis! i am reading Matilda, by Roald dahl. It was a great book and I recommand it to everyone, because it rocks!!! An infrence I made was that Matilda really likes Miss Honey's effort to help Matilda learn at her advanced level, while learning in a 5-6 year old room. I know that because she is constantly saying "Thank-you Miss honey" and being very respectful to her. Thanks for a great day!
