September 2nd

Here's what we did today in fourth grade:

Math-We took the Chapter 2 test today and those will be returned tomorrow.  We have also been moving along with the multiplication quizzes.  Everyone has passed the 2's and 3's.  We are working on the 4's, 5's, and 6's.

Reading-We discussed how to really put your opinions into a reading letter and also how to explain those feelings.  Tomorrow groups will be choosing books for their first literature circles.

Word Study-Groups 3 and 4 met to do a word sort while Groups 1 and 2 worked on their contract.  Groups 1 and 2 will have a test on Tuesday and Groups 3 and 4 will have a test on Wednesday.

Writing-We worked on revising our drafts by looking for places to add details and descriptions related to our senses.  We will continue revising tomorrow.

Social Studies-We began Chapter 1, Missouri's Geography, and learned that Missouri is located on the continent of North America in the country of the United States in the Northwest Hemisphere.  We also learned how some of Missouri's landforms were changed and created by glaciers moving across the state during the Ice Age.  I know we have just begun Chapter 1, but there will be a test next Friday because the following Monday, September 20, we will begin switching for Science.

Tonight's Homework:
Writing-I will be collecting Writer's Notebooks tomorrow and checking for at least 3 entries from home.

Remember to keep reading!

Also, tomorrow is MIZZOU spirit day in honor of their first game on Saturday!  Wear your black and gold!

  7. Great Meghan! Sounds like a good book, but it also sounds like it might be a little sad since the dogs don't have homes. Dog books always make me cry! Glad you're enjoying fourth grade! Next time, you can post on the current day so other people can see what you post too.
