January 5th

Here's what we did today:

Math-I met with most students in small groups and it seems that many have a good understanding of long division.  We'll keep at it tomorrow!

Word Study-Groups 1 and 2 sorted their words with me while Groups 3 and 4 prepared their words for tomorrow's sort.

Reading-We took another look at the article on video games and studied the way it was organized.  We talked about whether that was the best way to organize the article.

Writing-Students chose their famous person and spent time listing some specific questions they would ask their person.

Social Studies-We learned about Thomas Jefferson, the Louisiana Purchase and the Corps of Discovery!  We'll continue with westward expansion tomorrow.

Homework:
Math-WS 13.3--all, WS 13.4 #2-5 and MR

Reading-Groups meet tomorrow.

Writing-All students need a book on their famous person by Friday.  They were told that if there is not one in the school, they can check their local library or choose a different person.

Have a good night!
