January 4th

Here's what we did today:
Math-We learned about the bring down step in long division problems.  There is homework practice on this tonight.  Tomorrow we will have division stations and I will be able to work with the students in small groups to see where they all stand with division.

Reading-We looked at an article about the pros and cons of video games and will be using that article to study some ways that authors organize expository text. 

Word Study-Groups 3 and 4 got their words today while Groups 1 and 2 prepared their words for the sort.

Writing-We read a biography about Harriet Tubman and then thought of some questions we would ask some famous people.  This will help students to narrow down their research later on.  Tomorrow students will choose the person they would like to research.

Health-We watched a video about the food groups and answered some questions to review some of the information in the video.  Ask your child which food groups they should eat most of their daily food from!

Homework:
Math-WS 13.2, odds and all of the MR--Use the grid paper to help.
