I hope everyone had a nice weekend! Here's what we were busy with today:
Math: We took the Chapter 5 test and I will pass it back tomorrow. We will also start a chapter on data and graphing.
Word Study-We did an alphabetical word sort using our list of commonly misspelled words. Some students also re-took the grammar quiz and will get it back tomorrow.
Reading-As a class, we read a poem called "Tell Me" and made inferences about how the character was feeling. Tomorrow we will use inferences to add a stanza to the poem. I also met with some small groups to make inferences in short pieces of writing.
Writing-We began a unit on personal narratives by learning what a personal narrative is and that it should be based on a personal memory you have. The students created a list of their memories and we will use these lists to come up with topics for our personal narratives.
Homework:
Writing-Most Writer's Notebooks were handed back today and I've enjoyed reading through them. I will hand back the rest tomorrow. The students noted three nights in their planners (with a WN) that they plan to write in their notebooks at home so they can make sure to get in three nights of writing a week.
Reading-We set a weekly reading goal today and they each need to make sure to read 100 minutes this week.
Science-Please bring in two rocks for class on Wednesday.

Dear Mrs.Davis I am reading The Mysterious Case of the Allbright Academy by Diane Stanley.Its about a girl named Franny who gets to go to the Allbright Academy because her sister Zoe was selected to go but she said she wouldn't go without Franny and J.d..J.d. is Zoe's twin.While Franny is at Allbright she meets some friends.She meets Brooklyn and Cal.During testing in October Franny meets Cal.Cal is very sad because her dad always has to move all around the world!But in January its a totally different person.One of the assignments was a group project to build a robot.Franny was actually assigned to put the robot together herself.At first she couldn't believe she could do it because Jenny was supposed to get the instructions but she couldn't find them.I also made an inference.My inference is that me and Cal are alike because we both have to move a lot.I really love this book and i recommend it to all of you!Hope

ReplyDeleteCase#9.It is with no dought the best book I ever read in my entire life! In this case Nancy finds herself in a life threatening case that involves India's most treasured diamond which is stolen by...well actually she dosnt KNOW who stole it because she has way too many suspects.The main one is Belinda,her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend. Another suspect is the dance Colby who has a partner Katya. she is one of the dancers in his dance class. the other suspect is Ana the family who payed for the shipping of the dimond from India to America. The last suspect is James the maneger of the CBT,(Chicago Ballet Theater.)Well I have already given to much information so if you want to read the best book MRS.Davis has in her librery then check it out(after Im done of course!)
