October 28th

A quick note to say thank you to everyone for the great conversations we had during conferences.  I really enjoyed speaking with each of you about your child's progress!  As always, feel free to contact me at anytime if there's anything you'd like to discuss.

Here's what we did today:
Math: We learned about the properties of multiplication.  Remember that the identity property of multiplication is different from the identity property of addition!  There is also a zero property!

Reading-We discussed literature circle roles and the students met in their groups to discuss the five thoughts they recorded as they were reading.

Writing-We continued editing our personal narratives and some students began publishing on the computer.  We will all be typing these as part of the publishing process.

Social Studies-Students took the Chapter 8 test today and I will return them tomorrow.

The students also participated in Kids Vote and got a chance to "vote" and fill out voting registration cards!

Homework:
Math-Multiplication packet is due tomorrow.  Please complete WS 8.5 also.  The students have had a lot of time to work on this in class.

Reading-Groups will meet next Wednesday and need to have read their assigned chapters and recorded five thoughts.

**Regarding the fall festivities tomorrow, please send your child's costume in a bag and they will be able to change into their costume before the parade.  Our party is from 2-3 in the gym if you would like to join us and we will be running the Pumpkin Run from 11:50-12:10 if you'd like to join us for that.

Have a great night!
