April 1st

Happy April Fool's Day!  The kids were quite surprised this morning to find their desks turned backwards and also to see that their morning work was to write the numbers from 1-1,000,000 with all the even numbers in pencil and all the odd numbers in pen.  Needless to say, we did not complete this task :)

Here's what we did today:
Math-The students worked on some very difficult word problems in groups and then taught the class how they got to their answer.  We discussed the importance of underlining important words and using a diagram to help understand the question.  We also talked about predicting the outcomes of experiments using the words likely, unlikely, certain, impossible, or equally likely.

Reading-We went over the poetry packet together and students had time to begin preparing for their groups on Monday.

Social Studies-We watched a BrainPop on the Civil War while working on their chosen project.

Homework:
Math-WS 23.2, all

Reading-Groups on Monday, Fiction packet due Tuesday.  Students need to complete the packet independently as it is MAP prep.

Social Studies-Some students need to finish their project.  Chapter 6 test will be next Friday.

Have a great weekend!  Remember, we start testing next Wednesday so get in the habit of getting lots of sleep, drinking lots of water, and eating a good breakfast!  Remember to keep reading and writing as well!
