October 6th

Here's what we did today:
Math-We learned about mean, median and mode.  Here are some tricks for remembering the difference between these: The mean is mean to you because it makes you divide!  After ordering numbers from least to greatest, you can find the median be crossing out a number from each side until you get to the middle.  The median is in the middle of the highway!  Finally, mode sounds like most and the mode is the number that appears most often.

Word Study-We did a buddy check today to prepare for the test.  Students are still misspelling a lot of the words especially beautiful and sincerely.

Reading-We read the book Amelia's Road.  It is a great story about a girl who is looking for a place to belong.  We made inferences about how Amelia feels at certain times.

Writing-Today we focused on telling about a funny or scary story in our lives.

Homework:
Math-WS 6.2, all problems

Word Study-study for Spelling test!

Reading-Keep up with 100 minutes a week!

Writing-Don't forget about your Writer's Notebook!

** Tomorrow is Green and Gold day and Friday will be Truman day!

Have a great night!

  1. Dear Mrs.Davis,
I am reading THE CITY OF EMBER by Jeanne DuPrau. It is about a girl named Lina and a boy named Doon.when they get there jobs lina gets massnger and Doon get pipeworks laborer. Lina finds a note but it's missing letters because her little sister was trying to eat it. Doon finds a door with a lock on it in the pipeworks. Lind's friend Lizzy had been getting rare caned food s from Looper. It tures out that Doon finds the mayer in the odd room with light, some of the rare food, light bulbs and thought that the noise he had heard before must have been a door. He and Lind deside that they need to tell the grauds. When the guards hear this they deside to make a note of what Lind and Doon told them. This book has been the best book that I have read this year. I highly recomed this book. It is in the kid recomed slot in Mrs.Davis libary.

  2. I am reading Matilda and it is by Roald Dahl. I made an inference on how the Trunchbull is mean to the kids because they can't even wear pigtails to school. "Chop 'em off and throw 'em in the dustbin, you understand?" I know that if a person wants you not to do something any more don't do it again.
