Here's what we did today:
Math-We learned how to multiply with money. It is important to pay attention to whether the problem needs a decimal point or not. If one of the factors has a decimal point, then the answer must have a decimal point. If there is only a dollar sign in the factors, but no decimal point, then the answer does not need a decimal point. Start counting for commas with the number to the left of the decimal point (if there is one). And always remember a dollar sign.
Word Study-We went over more prepositional phrases and discussed that a preposition must start the prepositional phrase, there must be a noun or pronoun in the phrase and the sentence must still be a complete sentence even if the prepositional phrase is taken out.
Reading-Students worked on reading a passage about chocolate and practicing using RAP (Restate, Answer, Prove) to answer the questions about the passage. They also met in Reading groups.
Writing-We learned how to correctly address a letter and finished up the persuasive letters.
Homework:
Math-WS 12.4, odds and MR---Use the block paper to rewrite the multiplication problems.
Reading-Groups will meet TOMORROW for the last time before break.
Writing-Finish addressing your envelope if you need to. If you are sending it through the mail, please put a stamp on the envelope.
Science-Study Guide and study for the test.
I hope to see many of you at the concert tonight. Please be safe driving if the roads are slick at that time!
