What a crazy week we've had! We've been busy working on tesselations, revising, editing, and now publishing our fictional pieces, and boxing up the room! Tomorrow we will end the day with a class celebration. Tuesday is a half day and the last day of school. There will be an assembly and some last minute things to take care of. Please contact me if you have questions about anything.
Tonight, students should be publishing their writing and finishing their tesselations (most are finished).
Have a great night!

May 23rd
We had a great day today taking part in Fly-Up Day! Students going to a school other than Concord visited their new school. Concord students stayed at Truman and rotated through the Concord 5th grade teachers.
This afternoon we watched Toy Story 3 to continue our theme of "transitions".
We also worked on our tesselation projects and our fiction drafts.
Homework:
Finish your draft if it's not completed yet. You may revise if you'd like. We'll revise in class tomorrow.
Students do not need to write in their Writer's Notebook this week. Of course, I'd encourage students to write daily, not just when it's required :)

We had a great time with Junior Achievement today! Thank you to our Maritz volunteers who gave us some great lessons about business! As I will be out of town for a funeral on Monday and Tuesday, I wanted to put a few important reminders on the blog. I will be accessible by email if you have any questions.
*The States and Capitals test is Wednesday, May 11th. If you'd like to take the extra credit it must be done on the 11th as well.
*Word Study test on Tuesday is over the spelling of the states. Contracts (20 points) are due Tuesday as well.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Sorry I did not post yesterday. My husband's grandfather passed away and I had to go home. I will be in Indiana on Monday and Tuesday, but will be here tomorrow.
Here's what we did today:
Math-Students took the Chapter 15 test and will get these back tomorrow.
Word Study-We are doing a class list of the states and capitals. They are split into groups of 10 so from now until Tuesday we will be working in on the first 10 states (alphabetically). The contract is different and only 20 points are required. The test on Tuesday will just be the state name, not the capital, since the spelling of the capitals is part of the big test in Social Studies.
Reading-Students worked on using fluency and expression in their Reader's Theater groups.
Writing-We are working very hard on publishing our poetry collections! The students are getting very good at using different aspects of Microsoft Word.
Homework:
Word Study-Work on contract.
Social Studies-Study states and capitals. The last day to take the test is next Wednesday, the 11th.
Science-Test on Monday. Work on study guide.
Thanks for all the yummy fruit today! It will help to balance out the delicious chocolate from yesterday!
