May 27th

Crazy, but tomorrow is our last day of school! We cleaned out desks and lockers today and the kids do not need to bring their bookbags to school unless they want to tomorrow.

Unlike past years, there is no whole school assembly in the morning. There is a 5th grade assembly at 9 and a fun assembly at 9:45 for the rest of the school. Awards will be given in individual classrooms. Thanks!

May 24th

Reading-Groups meet Wednesday for the last time so all books need to be completed by then.

Writing-Spend at least 30 minutes working on your story tonight. All stories should be ready to be published tomorrow at the very least. If you are ready to publish tonight, please do so on lined paper. If your story is long, you should start publishing tonight as you will not be able to finish in class tomorrow.

Social Studies-States and Capitals test Wednesday-Spelling does matter!

I can't believe this is the last week of school! It will be a fun week, which started with a great Fun Day today. We are still finishing up some academic things though, so please remind your child to stay focused until the end. Thanks!

Arch/Old Courthouse Field Trip

I am posting some pictures from our field trip on Tuesday. Thank you again to Ms. Bogdanovich, Mrs. Perniciaro, and Ms. Newman for going along with us and also to everyone else who volunteered.

May 21st

Reading-All groups are meeting Monday!

Writing-Edit your story for at least 20 minutes. Please do this independently and look for capitals, periods, quotation marks and paragraph breaks.

Social Studies-Get your test signed if needed and study your states and capitals for the test on Wednesday.

Science-test Wednesday

Don't forget that Monday is Fun Day and it will be hot! Make sure to wear tennis shoes, comfy clothes, and a hat and/or sunscreen.

May 20th

Writing-Work on revising your story for at least 20 minutes. Remember, we are not editing, just revising!

Math-Chapter 20 test tomorrow.

Social Studies-Chapter 9 test is tomorrow. It will be open-book, but is very challenging so make sure to study!

May 19th

Reading-Groups will not meet again until Monday so have a longer reading assignment. Please don't wait till the last minute!

Writing-Work on revising your story.

Social Studies-Study your states and capitals.

May 12th

Reading-Groups will meet tomorrow instead of today since we ran out of time.

Math-Finish WS 20.1 if needed and correct Chapter 15 Math test.

Spelling-Contracts due tomorrow for all groups. Test tomorrow for groups 3/4.

Have a good night and if you did not bring in your form for the buddy lunch, please bring it tomorrow. Remember book orders as well. I need to send the order in Monday at the latest so the books arrive prior to the end of the year.

Writing-Practice your memorized poem! Remember our poetry readings are this Friday at 2:15 in our classroom, room 217.

Social Studies-There will be a test on Chapter 8 next Wednesday, May 12th. The Chapter 8 packet is also due that day. I also gave the students a list of the states and capitals. There will be a test sometime the last week of school. They will be given a list of the states and will need to write in the state capital without using a word bank. They will receive one grade for Social Studies and one for Spelling so the spelling of the capitals does matter!

May 4th

Reading-All groups are meeting tomorrow. Please be prepared!

Writing-A few students still need to finish their poetry collection. They need to be completed by tomorrow morning so I can get them bound.
