April 30th

Thank you to all who came to our Famous Missourian Museum and also for all parents who helped with the kids' costumes and projects! It was a big success and I'm very proud of the presentations!

Homework:
Reading-Logs due Monday

Writing-All 10 poems need to be published on white paper and glued to construction paper by Monday.

Science-Bring a water bottle if you have not already done so.

April 29th

Sorry for the lack of posts this week. It has been a crazy week with getting ready for our Famous Missourian project and the Poetry Readings. Remember, that tomorrow afternooon is our Famous Missourian Museum from 2:30-3 in the tile floor gym. We look forward to seeing you there.

You should have seen an invitation from your child inviting 2 guests to join us for our Poetry Readings next Friday in our classroom, 217. They will be presenting original works of poetry and will have some yummy snacks to share! Please no more than 2 guests per student as our room is not very big!

We also had volunteers from Maritz come today to do the Junior Achievement Program. It was a great day and we learned a lot about the economy and the business world. Maritz brought along flash drives for the students! These will be great as we continue with our writing this year and the students will be able to bring these home at the end of the year. I would recommend that they hold onto them for next year as well!

Homework:
Reading-All groups will meet tomorrow and need to be prepared.

Social Studies-Bring your costume and make sure you know your speech!

Science-Bring an empty water bottle if you have not already done so.

April 23rd

Reading-Book Logs due Monday

Writing-Revise Poetry

Math-Correct Chapter 30 test

Science-Finish eco-system worksheet and bring in an empty water bottle for next Friday.

Social Studies-Finish Famous Missourian Poster if needed and Bio Poem. We will be working on our speeches in class Monday, but it would be a good idea to get a head start because the one-two paragraph speech does need to be memorized for next Wednesday! Also, please continue getting your costumes together.

April 20th

Reading-All groups will meet tomorrow. Students need to be prepared by having read the assigned chapters for their group and made at least 4 comments.

Math-Correct Math test.

April 19th

Math-There will be a test on Chapter 23 tomorrow, Probability. We learned the information, but did not have a chance to test before the MAP. We will be reviewing Chapter 30 tomorrow and will test on Thursday.

Reading-Groups will meet on Wednesday.

Writing-We have been working hard on Poetry. Students may need to work on some poems or revise some poems independently at home if they are unable to complete the assignments in class. We are working towards creating a Poetry Anthology of 10 poems.

April 16th

We had a busy day today and began working on our Famous Missourian posters. You should have received a note this week informing you that our Famous Missourian presentations will be on Friday, April 30th from 2:30-3:00 in the tile floor gym. All are welcome to come!

We will be back to our normal schedule next week and will begin spelling groups again on Monday.

Homework:
Social Studies: Some students have finished, but if not, they need to finish up their fact sheet with information for their Famous Missourian poster.

Reading: Some students may need to complete one or both of the following assignments: TFK notes sheet on R U 2 Wired? and/or Preposition sentence and drawing.

We had a great first day of Math testing on the MAP. Everyone worked hard! Remember to get a good night's sleep tonight and eat a healthy breakfast tomorrow morning!

Homework: All reading groups are meeting tomorrow. Students should read the assigned chapters and complete at least four related notes which may include vocabulary, questions, connections, wonderings, etc. . .

Math-WS 19.4

Because of the Cardinals home opener on Monday, everyone is encouraged to wear RED in support of the team!

We start the Math portion of the MAP testing on Tuesday so Monday will be our last day to review. Please try to be here every day next week unless you are sick.

Math-Finish WS 19.1 and 23.4 from stations today. Do all problems on each sheet, except for the division problems in the Mixed Review of 19.1.
